“Hello, I am…” used to be filled in with a person’s name. However there is a growing anxiety now that comes with that introduction based on the question, “who am I?” How do I define my identity, my purpose, my value? No wonder we are facing stress, anxiety, and fear in an overwhelming way. God’s design wasn’t for us to ‘figure out’ who we are, no, his design was that we know from the opening pages of Scripture that he created us. He outlines our identity is something he gives, and with it comes a rest we yearn for with desperation. This weekend as we close out the opening chapter of Genesis, God points us to our identity and rest.
