Hate your enemy. Get back at the one who wronged you. Vilify those who persecute you. If someone slaps you, make sure you hit them so hard they don’t get back up. This all sounds like horrible advise, yet, isn’t this the whispers or billboards going off in our heads at times? There was a time when even religious leaders would justify a few of these. Yea, hard to believe. This weekend as we closeout our study of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, we see how he Jesus Radically Redefining our Relationships. Love enemy, turn cheek, pray for persecutors, work extra hard, all seem beyond us, Jesus shows us this week how radical life with him can be, and what our life with him does to our relationships.
